What is the Digital Training Voucher

The Cheque-Formação +Digital (Digital Training Voucher) is part of Portugal's Emprego + Digital 2025 programme, funded by the PRR (Recovery and Resilience Plan). It works as a voucher: the participant chooses the training, completes it at a certified provider and receives reimbursement from IEFP after completion.

The maximum value is €750 per person, per 12-month period. Payment is made in full, in a single instalment, after the training is completed successfully.

Updated deadline: Applications have been extended until 30 June 2026. Training must also be completed by the same date.

Who can apply

An important point for business owners: you can apply for yourself and your employees. A company with 5 people could, in theory, access up to €3,750 in funded training.

Which courses qualify

Training must be in digital skills and delivered by a provider certified by DGERT (Directorate-General for Employment and Labour Relations) or by a recognised higher education institution.

Why use it for AI training

Since February 2025, Article 4 of the EU AI Act requires all companies using AI systems to ensure AI literacy among their staff. Enforcement begins in August 2026. The Digital Training Voucher is a direct way to fund that preparation.

Note: The Digital Training Voucher can be combined with other supports such as SIFIDE II (for R&D investment) or Portugal 2030 programmes (for digital transformation). They are complementary instruments — one funds people training, the others fund technology and development.
